  • Berkeley Blueways
    The Berkeley County Blueways paddling trail system identifies over 175 miles of total water course from 23 trails and is a result of the vision and efforts of many individuals and organizations working in partnership. It is the desire of this partnership that the Berkeley County Blueways should be viewed as an open invitation for paddlers to experience and enjoy the beautiful lakes, rivers, streams, forests and wildlife we have to offer.
  • SC Audubon's Beidler Forest
    Located in the heart of the South Carolina low-country between Columbia and Charleston, Four Holes Swamp is a 45,000-acre matrix of black water sloughs and lakes, shallow bottomland hardwoods, and deep Bald cypress and Tupelo Gum flats. Four Holes Swamp is a major tributary of the Edisto River. Over 15,000 of those acres are owned by the National Audubon Society and make up what is known as the Francis Beidler Forest.
  • Friends of the Edisto
    Friends of the Edisto, Inc. FRED, a non-profit organization, was established in 1998 to facilitate conservation of natural resources and to encourage and support sustainable economic development within the Edisto River Basin in South Carolina. The Edisto River Basin contains the longest free-flowing blackwater river in America, and encompasses twelve counties, including much of the midlands and low country areas of South Carolina.
  • Palmetto Conservation Foundation
    Whether it's building the Palmetto Trail, preserving an American Revolutionary War Battlefield, or publishing a new book, the PCF taking up the cause. Founded in 1989, PCF is a statewide, non-profit organization which assists South Carolina's communities to grow and prosper while maintaining local character and quality of life. This involves protecting natural areas through land trust assistance or local government programs, developing greenways and the Palmetto Trail.
  • Department of Natural Resources Scenic Rivers Program
    The goal of the Scenic Rivers program is the conservation of SC's river heritage through the proper management of the natural and cultural character of the state's river corridors. As is stated in the South Carolina Scenic Rivers Act of 1989, this program has the purpose of protecting "unique or outstanding scenic, recreational, geologic, botanical, fish, wildlife, historic or cultural values" of selected rivers or river segments in the state.
  • South Carolina Nature Based Tourism Association
    The SCNBTA brings together local nature-based tourism business owners with resource managers and community leaders. In addition, the association provides continuing professional education and encourages the exchange of information among its members, particularly as it relates to the conservation of natural and cultural resources for long-term economic benefit.
  • Edisto River Canoe and Kayak Trail Commission
    The Edisto River Basin is the world's longest free-flowing "blackwater" stream which encompasses twelve counties, including much of the midlands and Lowcountry areas of South Carolina.
